These are a small collection of very short poems written in an attempt to express in a few words a whole book of complex emotions and thoughts.  Trust me when I say these poems are not poetry in the true sense of the form, but there is a cadence to them that is pleasing - at least to me when I wrote them.  Judge for yourself.
Empty Pages Waiting
This verse was written on the flyleaf of a blank journal given to a friend who, like me, used written word to articulate thoughts and emotions when the spoken word proved inadequate to the task.
Pop
It never fails to amaze me how seemingly small events can influence us so greatly.  Pop came into my life for a very brief period when I was five years old.  It is fifty years later and yet the memory of this old man still brings a smile and warmth to my soul.
Measure of Love
A miniature expression of what love should be.
The following poems are expressions of the pain love can bring.  My memory of this relationship in the early 1980's is the intense highs and lows.  Michael was a complex, rigid man who set an exceptionally high standard for himself and the people close to him - one I could not live up to, then or now.

Poems

Service
Michael wrote this poem.  It speaks for itself.
Destiny of Love
My reply, or more accurately, my lament, in answer to his poem.
A Cruel Joke
Pain expressed in the ending.
